Our Trip to Alaska

Jeff and I eating at the cruise Dining Room in our formals
Man, to start out we just had a BLAST!  We started our trip by arriving to the airport Saturday morning.  Then as we start going up the airplane it was the cutest thing to see Jeffrey's head practically on the window the whole first couple of flights.  We get to the cruise ship and then begin our journey.  Sunday is formal dress day, as you can see Jeff and I had a good time at our dinner table all dressed up!

Then we made three stops on the cruiseship.  On Monday we stopped at Ketchikan, Tuesday Juneau, and Wednesday  we were in Skagway, Alaska.  In Ketchikan we rode a tour in a taxi seeing our first black bear and eagles, then some of us (those who were brave on our taxi ride) ate some salmon berries, yum, yum!  Then we took a picture right at this waterfall.  Afterwards we went for a ride on some go-karts in the rain, Jerika ended up having to take a stop that caused the whole tour to wait for us.  Jeff loved driving the go-karts.  What fun!

Killer whale family breaching over and over again

Two baby cubs following their mother and learning how to hunt for fish.  After about 15 minutes the mother finally caught the first fish.  Must have been her first time fishing.
Jeff's pretty proud of this picture he took, so I thought I'd put it on our blog.
Then on Tuesday once we were in Juneau, we decided to go exploring so we went on a tour to explore the whales and bears, and oh boy did we see tons!  We were super lucky, we saw so many animals and up close too!

Then, on the same day we decided to go and see a glacier from WAY up close.  As you can see we took a helicopter ride and landed on top of this glacier in Juneau, Alaska.  Here's everyone that went with us:
On Wednesday we got to Skagway, and honestly there wasn't too much sightseeing here.  There was a rock-climbing place that Jeff wanted to go to, but we weren't able to go there.  So Jeff and I agreed to go Zip-Lining.  It was pretty cool!  Ask Jeff all about it, he'll have to show you some of his tricks.  In fact, some of them will be on this blog!

Finally, we had one more day on sea with nothing really to do, but go miniature golfing and playing basketball. ;)  Here's a picture Jeff took of my family showing off their stuff as they're about to begin their golfing tournament.

Thursday we're at sea again, but this time we get to see Glacier Bay.  Here are a few pictures Jeff took.  WOW it was neat!!!  There are over thousands of glacier's just at Glacier Bay, and the best part is that you can only view them by boat or airplane.  So we were so lucky!  We also went to College Fjord on Friday.  It had quite a few glaciers as well, but not as many as Glacier Bay.

Jeff's so awesome!  He wants to point out a glacier for all of us to see!

Last, but not least, this is one of the glaciers from Glacier Bay as well, you can see the cave over in the lefthand corner, there were two of these with gushing melting water coming out of them.  Really neat to see the blue color coming from the glacier as well.

Jeff and I at College Fjord, you can see three of the glaciers in the background.  8/17/12

On Saturday we are kicked off of the boat, and on Saturday we make a 6-hour drive to see Mt McKinley.  Unfortunately, it was very rainy this day and we could only see the base of the Mountain.  Sunday we played a few games, went to one of McKinley's EFY friend's ward and then relaxed most of the remainder of the day.  We also drove to the ocean to look around.
Jeff and I at our final destination in the Anchorage Airport.  Here stands a record tall Grizzly Bear that was shot in Millward Alaska.  The Anchorage Airport pays to keep it here on display. 8/20/12
Well, the end of our trip is near, and Monday we leave the Anchorage Airport, but not before seeing the record-bearing bears they had at the airport in Anchorage, Alaska.  And finally came home late Monday night after travelling all day on Monday.
What a great Trip!!!
